PURPOSE |
To establish a policy by which medical students, interns, residents and
fellows (hereafter all will be referred to as trainees) are given opportunities
to participate in Educational Activities at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas
(THD). |
SCOPE |
Applies to all trainees in graduate medical education programs at
THD. |
PROVISIONS |
- Educational Opportunities offered by THD will encourage
the trainee to develop a personal program of learning to foster continued
professional growth with guidance from the teaching staff.
- The trainee will be given opportunities to participate in safe, effective,
and compassionate patient care, under supervision, commensurate with their
level of advancement and responsibility
- Full participation in the educational and scholarly activities
of the trainee’s program will be expected, including attendance to
educational conferences and participation in research projects, and each
trainee will be
required to assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents
and students.
- Trainees will be expected to participate on institutional
committees and councils whose actions affect their education and/or
patient care. The four committees present at THD are:
- Process Improvement Committee
- Human Research Committee
- Bioethics Committee
- Medical Education Committee
- Annually, trainees will be given the opportunity to submit
confidential written evaluations of the faculty and of their educational
experiences to the program director.
